Welcome to
THE NEW CLUB
Where the laugh, joy and sweet memories begin.
One can say that "THE NEW CLUB" deserves a place in history, being one of the oldest clubs in the country and even having its a road named after it, New Club Road.
In 1881, Perak Club was founded. It was a focal point of social life in colonial Taiping.
"THE NEW CLUB" came about when the then British Resident decided to limit the club membership to Perak Club to higher ranking officers and miners but not to planters. This high-handed approach resulted in several senior Perak Club members resigning and forming their "New" club back in 1892. Among those involved in this new club were Dr. Shepherd and Lefroy, Mais, Gray and Aylesbury.
The present main club house was built on a site granted in perpetuity provided "THE NEW CLUB" name is retained.
