Mr. Tan Hoon Jin or better known as Jerry Tan, has been our Committee Member
since 2017 until present. He is certainly an outspoken person and likeable by many for
his jolly fun filled and accommodative behaviour.
Mr. Jerry aka Cikgu Tan, has served as an English teacher at several schools in
Taiping until his retirement in 2013. Cikgu Tan was also actively involved with
Softball sports where he has been appointed an official, a coach and an umpire at
national level. It was his love for the sport where he started coaching at the age of 17.
He helped promote this sport in school and build interest among his many students.
He exposed them by competing at State and National levels. His proud achievement
was bringing the national team to Manila for the World Youth Softball Tournament.
Other than Softball sports, he is also an avid golfer himself and has been actively
involved with our Club’s golf activities until today, participating in most monthly
medals organised by the Golf Section.
Club events will never be as lively without the presence of Mr. Jerry Tan, who heads
the Social & Entertainment portfolio. He has created a great team and worked
tremendously hard to ensure every festive event ends well and with great success. It
was never an easy task especially when the Club has to host our HRH Raja Muda of
Perak, to grace a particular event. He will always be seen running around making sure
all items and preparations are in proper order, meeting protocols set by palace’s office
and still be able to entertain the crowd as ‘master of ceremony’. It is by nature he
draws attention of the crowd with his confidence and a touch of humour each time he
hosts an event.
He gained the respect of others for being a accommodative person but always takes a
serious view and stand when it involves issues pertaining to Club rules and proper
running of administration of the Club.
