39 participants took part in the Children’s Day Camp held on 12th March 2017. The bus load of children left for the Pejabat Pertahanan Awam ( Civil Defence Centre) in Simpang, Taiping at 7.45 a.m. Accompanying the children were Ms. Sajina Nair and Corporal Mohd. Radzi Bin Basri, the trainer for the children’s day camp.
The rationale for organizing the camp is motivation for the children to be self reliant, the importance of team work and build up self confidence. The children were divided into two groups, group A comprising children from Standard 1 to Standard 5 and group B comprising children from Standard 6 to Form 3.
Group A children were taught archery, basic CPR for toddlers and adults and simple backwoods cooking like boiling an egg. The task had to be performed as a team. Group B had fun with paintball, getting in and out of a fireman’s suit as well as reeling in the fire hose. For the backwoods cooking, the children had to grill a piece of chicken and a sausage.
Corporal Mohd. Radzi Bin Basri and his team of trainers did an excellent job. They taught and guided the children all the way. A special word of thanks is in order for him and his team. A big thank you to Barry and Ryan Teoh and Ms. Sajina Nair for making this event a great success.
There was a break for refreshment at 10.00 a.m. and the event ended at 12.00 p.m. The children were served lunch at 12.30 p.m. The bus left for New Club Taiping at 1.00 p.m.
All’s well that ends well. The participants had a great time and they really enjoyed the outing.
