Oh! What a night! 5th November 2017 saw the realization of our own New Club Tai Chi group having our first annual dinner since our set-up in September 2015. It was the culmination of weeks of preparation and practice.
Guests and members started coming in as early as 6 p.m. and soon all thirteen tables were fully occupied by 130 people. Among them were Tai Chi friends representing Chinese Recreation Club Taiping, and Lake Garden Tai Chi group. Of course, members of New Club Taiping Tai Chi Club came out in full force donning our newly acquired Tai Chi T-shirt in bright red and yellow design.
During dinner, the audience was entertained with Karaoke songs belted out by Tai Chi members and guests. NCT Tai Chi sifu Mr. Teh Ah Bee started the ball-rolling with two Mandarin numbers. Hidden talent came to the fore as more numbers were belted out in Mandarin and English.
The highlight of the evening was the performances by various Tai Chi groups. NCT Tai Chi group members showed off our own Tai Chi moves in Tai Chi 16,24,40,42, sword 42 and Kung Fu Fan. CRC Taiping and Lake Garden group members performed the dynamic moves of Gong Li Quan. Lake Garden group and sifu demonstrated their skills in the handling of the ‘Broad Sword’, ‘Pole’, ‘Spear’, and ‘Big Broad Sword’. A solo performance by sifu showcased his expertise with the Big Broad Sword. We are also grateful for the support of NCT Line-Dancing ladies who put up a splendid engaging performance of two square dances.
Lucky draw also spiced up the occasion with many attendees going home with prizes, thanks to the generous donations from some sponsors. Next was a sing-along session followed by more Karaoke songs till mid-night. It was indeed a memorable fun-filled night.
Last but not least, a note of thanks goes to Mr. Lim Sweet Chin, Chairman for Tai Chi section and NCT Vice President, Dr. Michael Wong, for attending the event. Also thanks goes to the Tai Chi committee members and members who put in efforts to make this event a success.
