The timely arrival of the Raja Muda, accompanied by the drums and the mesmerising lions to usher the royalty was a spectacle to behold. The deft movement of the lions, jumping and prancing were more than the eyes could take.
The traditional music played by the Hua Lian Secondary School Bans was something to ponder and appreciate. Then came the kids from Hua Lian 2 Primary School whose performance brought back memories of rich Chinese tradition. When the god of prosperity made his entrance into the foyer with Barry Teoh, there was a feeling of expectation and the suspense was answered as his appearance was a true reflection and a personification of wealth.
The dinner was catered by Legend Inn as appetizers, the lovely pieces of cakes melted in our mouths. The drought Tiger Beer evaporated in quick time quenching our thirst.
Despite the thrills and spills, 20 children from the Chinese Orphanage were feted with a Chinese New Year Dinner. The music belted out by the 3 piece band made the night lively.
Our emcee, Mr. Tan Hoon Jin was terrific and kudos to him.
It was a good night despite the minor hiccups and thumbs up to our Entertainment & Social Committee as well as Mr. Lim Swee Chin and Mr. Barry Teoh.
