Following the success of the Deepavali Squash Competition, the Squash Section continues with another celebration-themed event, and this time it was the Chinese New Year Squash Competition.
The Competition was held over three days, from 11 to 13 February 2016. The response from members was overwhelming. The competition was flooded with a large number of new comers. We welcome them with open arms. Because of the increase in the number of games to be played, each game was to be played over the best of 3 sets, instead of the usual 5. Eeveryone gave their best, but unfortunately there could only be one winner. The Dragon triumphed over the Phoenix.
On the fellowship night, a CNY Qi Pao Dress Contest was held amongst the squash ladies. The colour red dominated the scene. However, it was Ms. Celine Wong, who wore white, defeated the sea of reds, and became Ms CNY QI Pao Dress 2016. Congratulations! The grand prize for the winner was donated by Ms Janny Looi. Thank you for sponsorship.
Another event added more excitement to the night. It was the birthday of two of our members! Many happy returns to Phaik Poh and Karen Goh. There was the usual candle blowing, cake cutting and the mandatory smooching.
The merriment continued with songs, dance, food and drinks. The squash sub-committee wishes to thank all sponsors for their generous support to make this event a success.
